Fig. 2. Changes in the number of culturable E. coli over time in fresh soils after manure amendment. Two soil types, sandy loam and silt loam, were amended with (C) liquid swine manure and ({Delta}) solid beef cattle manure (8 parts fresh manure to 92 parts dry weight soil). Number of E. coli in unamended soils was 5.1 log10 cfu in silt loam and 4.5 loge cfu in sandy loam. Bars represent one standard deviation from mean.
