ABSTRACT

A simple and fast method is described for measuring surface soil sorptivity, S. Rather than measure the progress of infiltration flux for a long initial period, the cumulative infiltration is measured in the early stage in which the gravity effect is negligible. The theory behind the method is sound and simple, and measurements may be taken in only a few minutes using a small single ring. It is applicable to find S for both ponded and flux surface boundary conditions.
