ABSTRACT
Fractional precipitation of polysaccharides extracted with hot water from forest soils indicated that the organic layers contained a mixture of up to three polysaccharide fractions.
The precipitabilities of the polysaccharide fractions ranged between 0.48 and 0.74 and the Staudinger indices had a range of 70 to 150. The precipitabilities and the Staudinger indices were inversely related in a linear fashion.
